# Members & Profiles

> Introduction to Members, Profiles and User Accounts

## Overview

GroupFlow is a member-centered platform. Most activity in your group—viewing events, communicating, updating profiles, and connecting with others—is done by members themselves.

This guide explains:

* What members see and can do
* How member profiles and the directory work
* What administrators can manage behind the scenes

## Member Home

### What Members See First

When a member logs in, they are taken to the Member Home page. This is the central hub for staying connected to the group.

The Member Home is designed to surface:

* Important notices from the group
* Links to key pages and resources
* Helpful onboarding information for new members

This page helps members quickly understand:

* What’s new
* Where to go next
* How to stay engaged

### Admin Control

Administrators control the content shown on the Member Home, including:

* Notices and announcements
* Introductory text for new members
* Links to group resources and tools

This allows each group to tailor the Member Home to its culture and needs.

## Member Directory

### Finding and Connecting With Members

The Member Directory shows all active members in the group and makes it easy to find people.

Members can:

* Browse the list of active members
* Search by name
* Filter or search using profile details (depending on group settings)
* Click a member to view their profile
* Message other members directly (without needing contact information)

Only members who are currently active in the group appear in the member-facing directory.

### Privacy and Visibility

What appears in the directory depends on:

* The group’s privacy settings
* Each member’s profile visibility
* Which profile fields are enabled by administrators

This ensures members can connect while respecting privacy boundaries.

## Member Profiles

### What a Member Profile Is

A Member Profile displays information about an individual member. Profiles help members recognize each other, build trust, and connect around shared interests.

Profiles may include:

* Name and photo
* Pronouns
* Introduction or bio
* Location
* Tags, roles, or custom fields
* Any additional fields defined by the group

### Configurable Profile Fields

The fields shown on a profile are fully configurable by administrators.

This allows each group to decide:

* What information is collected
* What is visible to other members
* What is optional vs required

Different groups use profiles in very different ways, and GroupFlow is designed to adapt to that.

## Administrator View: Members & Users

Administrators have access to an expanded Members & Users directory in the admin dashboard.

This view includes:

* Active members
* Past members
* Registered users who have never been members
* Invited users who haven’t joined yet

This gives admins a complete picture of everyone who has interacted with the group.

### Advanced Filtering and Management

From the admin directory, administrators can:

* Search and filter by status, role, dues, tags, and more
* View a member’s full history
* Edit member or user details
* Change account status (active, trial, past member, etc.)
* Assign roles and permissions
* Add internal notes

These tools are designed for day-to-day administration as well as long-term record keeping.

### How Members & Profiles Work Together

* Member Home keeps members oriented and informed
* The Member Directory helps members find and connect with each other
* Member Profiles provide context, identity, and personalization
* Admin tools ensure accuracy, privacy, and smooth operations

Together, these features form the foundation of GroupFlow as a social platform—not just a management tool.
